Do you remember the woman you were before someone started calling you mama? Yeah, me either…it’s been awhile!
But chances are you felt a lot more human then than you do right now. You may actually have slept more than a couple of hours in a row. You probably took a lot more time in the shower. You may have been able to use the restroom without little hands slipping under doors. You may have gone to work without crushing guilt and constant conflicting emotions. You probably were even able to eat a meal without having to scarf it down before the next fire needed to be put out.
Things have really changed, right? And that’s ok – my guess is that you wouldn’t trade any of it. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t hard sometimes.
One of the main things I work on with my clients and also prioritize for myself is to find the big dial movers that make us feel like we are a little more human each day, a little more like the whole version of us. These dial movers are unique because they offer us way more than our investment in them, following the law of 80/20: 20% of our efforts will get us 80% of our results, so focus on that 20% and let the rest go.
And while that is going to look totally different for everyone and at every phase of motherhood, there are a few ways you can start to take back your quality of life that will exponentially improve the way you feel.
This week, I wanted to offer you a series teaching you the most effective methods and strategies to start feeling a little more like yourself again. And no, this is not going to be “ignore your responsibilities and meditate all day” BS. These are real, proven methods to not shove everyone else off the priority list, but to simply start to get yourself on it too.
We’ll be talking about mom guilt, your value as a human, asking for what you need, connecting with others, and so much more. You’ll have action items so that instead of just reading, you’ll begin to actually implement what you learn.
