Last week I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Tulum, Mexico with a group of female health and wellness entrepreneurs for a part work/part play vacation.
I love writing, but I can’t seem to put descriptive enough words to the adventures, breakthroughs, and the life-changing conversations that went down.
It was magical.
Several years ago I started on a journey to free myself from being obsessed with my post-baby body and it’s co-conspirator, food obsession. I had spent years after those pregnancies struggling to lose weight by dieting, then I’d gain it all back, then finally I managed to white-knuckle my way to a really fit body but was ALWAYS afraid that I was going to lose it.
I had been placing all of my value in what my body looked like, and was always looking for the “fix” that was finally going to make me good enough.
The surprising thing about this journey is that it didn’t end when I began to break free of the dieting patterns and started eating and exercising more intuitively. What unfolded was a spiritual journey that led me to have a new understanding of myself and my worth on this planet, and let me clue you in: it ain’t to just look pretty.
It was through this exploration that I began to finally see the BIG picture, not just the body picture. And it came down to this:
I want to live my BEST LIFE.
I want to have the BEST experience of motherhood, because I only get this chance one time.
I want to have a healthy, strong body that gives me the BEST quality of life I can possibly have, for my entire life.
I want to experience things and not just sit on the sidelines, waiting for someone to give me permission, or tell me I’m finally good enough or have checked off enough boxes.
This journey that started with “I’m so tired of dieting and thinking of my body” and has led me to this last week in Tulum, where I wore a bikini all week even though I have stretch marks and a misshapen belly button from four pregnancies (because I hate the feeling of swim fabric on my stomach).
Where rather than sitting on the sidelines wrapped in a towel because of fear of being on social media looking less than perfect, I jumped 15 feet into crystal clear cenotes, snorkeled with sea turtles and sting rays, zip lined across a canopy of trees, and played pool volleyball with a bunch of strangers from Brazil. All while my friends’ iPhones recorded it all.
And best of all, I just ate. Imagine that, just eating, not thinking about it, not coming home with regret and bloating and shame after staying at an all-inclusive resort! The old me could have never dreamt it, but this version of me takes good care of herself AND experiences the pleasures of food from other cultures.

And so I’m expanding my programs to reach more of them, but to be able to do this, I have to raise my 1:1 rates and cut back on the number of private clients I work with.
