Week: 21 weeks
Days to Go:
Symptoms: a few contractions anytime we traveled up or down in elevation. Baby kicking like mad.
Midwife Appointment Notes: Next Wednesday + Sonogram this weekend
Food: my 21st week was spent mostly camping in Rocky Mountain National Park, so it was grocery food that was easy to prepare.
Breakfast – eggs (even though it was a huge pain, I was craving them terribly) on toast or in a tortilla, strawberries
Lunch – spinach and chicken, hummus in a whole wheat wrap, and a clementine or apple
Snacks – Larabar and/or clementines, had s’mores every night w/ the kids too.
Dinner – Made beef queso and chips one night (totally bad for me), nitrite-free hot dogs (still not great), hamburgers, and scalloped potatoes with ham, all over the campfire. Accompanied each night with watermelon.
Exercise: Took several uphill hikes with husband and kids. Have always been moving on this trip, but still no formal planned exercise. I am excited to get back to the routine when I get back, especially since my ankle is finally healed.
Thoughts and Feelings: 5 weeks of camping and traveling and hotel rooms and living from a suitcase and a cooler…I have so many thoughts to share but I think it requires an entirely separate post.
I’m so ready to get back to the healthy eating. It was a fun break, and it made me really appreciate all over again how good it feels to fuel myself with high-nutrient foods. When I eat well (even on the trip) I’m comfortable, both physically and mentally. When I don’t, I suffer in both manners too.
